How To Lose Weight With Water, Cayenne Pepper and Honey

he diet grapevine churns out a number of suggestions for weight loss, many of which are unable to withstand the tests of time and results. In contrast, a program known as The Master Cleanse has been used in one form or another since it's introduction by Stanley Burroughs in 1941. In it's original form, this diet requires that you subsist for ten days solely on a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water. Fans of this detoxification diet claim they realize increased energy, weight loss and improved mood. Many variations of The Master Cleanse exist, including substitutions for each ingredient. One such variation uses honey in place of maple syrup and omits the use of lemons in order to add the unique nutritional benefits of honey to the cleanse. Here's how to implement this diet.

Drink at least 64 oz. of water every day. Not getting enough water can cause your body to increase its fat stores. In contrast, when you are adequately hydrated, your body can shed fat more easily. Water helps maintain muscle tone and facilitates the excretion of wastes. Even mild forms of dehydration can cause your body to hold on to fat and water, because there is a perceived lack of resources. Water is especially important when you're exercising because you lose more water in the form of sweat. Carry a portable water container with you everywhere and drink frequently. Thirst is a poor indicator of needing more water because it occurs in the first stages of dehydration.

Add dried cayenne pepper to your favorite foods, tea, juice or low-fat milk. Cayenne pepper can help you lose weight by causing a slight temporary increase in your body temperature. This effect causes your metabolism to increase, helping you burn fat faster. Cayenne also has other beneficial effects, including improving digestion and relieving pain. This spice is generally regarded as safe to use, unless you have an allergy to pepper. If you aren't a fan of the taste of cayenne, take 30 to 120 mg of it in capsule form three times a day.

Use honey to sweeten your favorite hot beverage like tea or add it to your favorite whole grain cereal for natural sweetness. Unlike refined sugars that are found in highly processed foods, honey can help you lose weight by lowering blood glucose. A 2004 study performed at Islamic Establishment for Education and published in the "Journal of Medicinal Food" found that honey decreased plasma glucose more than ordinary table sugar. Table sugar or sucrose as it's more commonly known, causes blood glucose levels to rise significantly then drop quickly, usually to a level lower than before it's consumption. This drop can lead to hunger that causes you to eat impulsively, usually something that isn't healthy.

Cleanse your system and fill your stomach by combining 8 oz. of water with a pinch of cayenne pepper and a tbsp. of honey. This combination, which is usually accompanied by a squeeze of fresh lemon, is a popular cleansing and detoxifying diet used during a fast. You can also however, use this mixture to lose weight while eating a healthy diet by drinking a glass before each meal. You'll fill your stomach, provide a small number of calories and increase your fat burning potential. As a result, you'll eat less of your meals and lose weight.
